July 1st is Canada Day. Every year on Canada Day, communities bring people together to celebrate our great country with friends, family and neighbours.

When it comes to holidays its always fun to have children create their own festive decorations. Here are some fun crafts the whole family can do to get ready for Canada Day!

Canada Day Wreath

  • White paper plate
  • Red tissue paper
  • A Maple Leaf template
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • A Red Crayon or marker
  • Glitter (optional)

What you need:

  • White poster board
  • Red paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Stick/straw (optional

Personalized Canada Day T-shirtsCanada Day

What you need:

  • White t-shirt
  • Red paint
  • Paintbrush

What to do:

  1. Lay t-shirt on a flat surface.
  2. Paint child’s hand red and have them press it to the centre of the t-shirt, leaving a handprint. The handprint is the maple leaf on the flag.
  3. Then paint red rectangles on either side of the handprint.

Canada Moose PB & Jelly Sandwich

  • Whole wheat bread
  • Blueberries
  • Peanut butter
  • Jam
  • Red apple
  • Maple leaf cookie cutter

What to do:

  1. Cut the crusts off of the bread to use as antlers.
  2. Cut two slices of bread into two large circles to use as the face.
  3. Cut another small circle to use as the snout.
  4. Make your peanut butter and jam sandwich using the two large circles.
  5. Assemble the moose as seen in the photo.
  6. Cut a slice of apple and then use your cookie cutter to cut out maple leaf.

Canada Flag Fruit Kebab’s

What you need:Canada Day fruit

  • Skewers (without sharp ends)
  • Strawberries
  • Bananas
  • Watermelon
  • Maple leaf cookie cutter

What to do:

  1. Cut up strawberries and bananas
  2. Use cookie cutter to cut maple leaf shape out of watermelon
  3. Arrange on skewers so it looks like the Canada flag, red (strawberries) white (banana) Maple leaf (watermelon) then white again and then red.
