Outdoor play is a great way to keep active during the warmer months! Children of all ages love to play at home or public playgrounds, playing with the cool equipment and making new friends. Playgrounds are fun but there are some safety best practices that should be remembered when bringing your child to the playground:

  1. Supervise your child closely and ensure they know how to use equipment safely.
  2. Teach your child playground safety rules.
  3. Check the playground for unknown or unsafe objects/items.
  4. Last but definitely not least, enjoy your time outdoors!!

Playground Standards
The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) has developed nationally recognized standards on children’s play spaces and equipment. They provide detailed information about materials, installation, strength of the equipment, surfacing, inspection, maintenance, performance requirements, access to the playground, play space layout and specifications for each type of equipment. These standards help to keep our children safe while they play.
