As the daughter of the founders of Wee Watch, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the growth and evolution of our family business firsthand. Now, as we celebrate our 40th anniversary, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable journey that has brought us to this milestone moment.

Growing up, I viewed the passion and dedication my parents poured into every aspect of Wee Watch. It offered a firsthand look into entrepreneurship, the valuable lessons about hard work with responsibility, and the intricacies of managing a family business.

As a child, my brother and I were involved in the early days of growing the business without even realizing it. One summer vacation was spent stuffing envelope after envelope with information about running a licensed home daycare. We looked around satisfied at our hard work one morning only to find out we were now heading out to neighbourhoods to deliver those hundreds of envelopes! While we were being dropped off with backpacks filled with the envelopes, a lunch, and some water (no cellphone), we had no idea we were a part of building a business that would eventually celebrate a 40th anniversary.

Over the years, I watched as Wee Watch expanded its reach across the province. I have had the pleasure of witnessing the bonds that formed between Providers and children, creating a sense of belonging and security that is truly priceless. But perhaps what has impressed me most is the way Wee Watch has adapted and innovated to meet the changing needs of families over the past four decades. From implementing educational programs that promote early literacy and numeracy to embracing technology to enhance communication with parents, Wee Watch has remained at the forefront of early childhood education.

As we celebrate this momentous occasion, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible team of Providers, Home Visitors, and agency staff members who have made Wee Watch the success it is today. Their dedication and passion have been instrumental in shaping the lives of countless children and families, including my own.

Looking to the future, I am excited to see how Wee Watch will continue to grow and evolve in the years to come. With a strong foundation built on love, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of children, I have no doubt that the next 40 years will be just as remarkable as the last.

So here’s to Wee Watch: 40 years of love, learning, and laughter. May we continue to inspire and empower the next generation for many years to come.
